7:00 AM Local Time Saint-Laurent, French Guiana Edge of the beach
General-de-Exército João Batista lifted his binoculars and put them up to his eyes. He peered across the river into the adjacent village, to which they would soon be entering.
"Sir, would you like me to prepare the artillery?" A captain yelled out.
"No, I don't think we will need it. It appears the village is empty. Prepare the artillery to move across the river."
He looked over at his brand new Panzer III division, and smiled. No one on the entire continent of South America could stand up to them. He stood up on top of one one of the Panzers.
"Roll out!" Batista yelled.
With that the tanks began crossing the river, followed by infantry and artillery. The invasion had begun.

Resistance in Dutch Guiana was a push over. With only a regiment of soldiers stationed in the area the Dutch pulled back from the borders and pulled in for a last ditch defense of the Capital of Paramaribo, where the old Fort Zeelandia had been modernized and could house most of the regiment. A battalions worth of soldiers set-up road blocks and minefields on the outskirts of the city and awaited the Brazilian/French forces to invade, while the Regimental commander and the Commissioner of Dutch Giuana sent out a plea of help to the world....

12:00 PM local time 10 miles out of Paramibo, Dutch Guiana
"Sir, we are approaching the city. What are your orders?"
"We stop here for now. The French need time to catch up. We will begin our assault at dawn."
General Batista looked around. His troops were ready for this, many of these units were new, and had not seen battle yet. He knew many young men were going to lose their lives in a few hours, and he prayed for their safety.
One the tents were set up, he quickly retired to his to go over maps of the city.
"Sir, we expect them to be stationed here, here, and here" A man said, pointing to key locations.
"Very good Colonel, those are some key positions. But I need artillery locations, and I need them now. That is the first priority, we cannot lose those Panzers."
"Ah, the artillery. We sent out a recon team a while ago and discovered they have a few artillery positions strategically placed here, here and here."
"That is what I thought too. We will bombard those areas first. Any word on what type of artillery?"
"It seems they have Howitzer's, Sir."
"Aren't those American designs? Isn't the American president here right now?"
"Well, yes, Sir. But I don't think the American's would fund a war here, and have their president show up."
"You're right, carry on Colonel."
Batista left the tent and headed towards the radio station. It had just begun raining, and he resorted to sprinting to get out of it quickly.
"Ah, Captain, nothing like that fall rain right? What is the news? Anything new at home?"
"No, Sir. But we have received reports of war in Europe."
"Between who?"
"England has declared war on France, and they also have Russia joining the fight."
"Hm, our allies will want to hear news of this. Do not tell the French troops that are linking up with us here. We need their morale up. If they find out on their own, okay then."
With that he went back to the strategic headquarters to finish the planning for the assault.

Dutch soldiers of the 27th Battalion huddled under the barricades they had constructed, and manned their machine guns that were placed in many of the homes of civilians that were now made into strong points. Mortars were sighted and the six towed Howitzers of the Artillery company moved to secure locations and camouflaged so that it would be very hard to spot their location.
In the Fort, the artillery crews made ready their weapons and stood by with their guns waiting for the Brazilians to come. While many knew they would probably not live to see their love ones again they knew that they were fighting for their way of life and for a just cause.

10:30 PM local time Outside of Paramibo
"Sir, the guns are in place, and the troops ready to move." A Lieutenant reported.
"Good, but I am worried about all the civilians. Why would they put their people in harms way?" General Batista replied.
He paced back and forth, and picked up his binoculars again. He lifted them to his face and surveyed the city. He could see the camafloauge emplacements, luckily in the dark of night they hadn't been spotted.
"Sir, you keep looking through the binoculars, expecting to see something different. There is nothing new. They are all still held up in the homes of citizens, citizens who would gladly attack our soldiers in the streets. Our people are at the steps of the capital, demanding news on the capture of the city! We must attack today!"
"Then dig the guns in, we begin the assault soon."
The general was still concerned. He couldn't dream of attacking citizens, but he knew the Lieutenant was right, they would gladly attack his men. He knew he had to do this.
*1 hour later*
"Sir, everything is in place. We are ready to attack."
Batista looked at his soldiers, about to move into a city full of hidden machine guns and possible booby traps.
"Men, good luck. I can't give you anything more. You are trained, and more than prepared. Good luck to you." He stood up and lifted his arm. "Fire the guns!"
The loud boom of artillery could be heard along the line. A few seconds later the pounding of shells was heard hitting the city.
