Royal Palace September 1st, 1941 Oslo, Norway
King Olaf V adjusted his suit as he read over his documents. After the war in Russia, Olaf wanted Norway to worry about itself, pulling itself off the world stage in May of 1940.
The Norwegians watched as Japan and China tore into each other, the Soviets reclaim the Caucases area, the Germans take up more land, the joint defeat of Turkey, and the aborted war in France. And through it all, they watched.
Of course, Norway had its own political issues. Many members of the Norwegian government, headed by his former Prime Minister, declared the King was overstepping his bounds. However, the Storting, which was the Norwegian parlementary ruling body, declared that King Olaf was not overstepping his bounds as outlined in the Constitution, and that he was working in collaboration with the Counsel of State at all times. He never once tried to make a ruling without their consent, and the Storting was always given the ruling to pass votes on.
But after over a year of work, Norway was back in the world play.
