Currently the way ground combat works is the attacking player will post their actions and what they are trying to achieve. Then the defending player will get a chance to counter the actions and react. After this a GM will post what all happens and the round will reset. At the moment all ground combat and air combat will be freeform, and success based on the players post. If there is a dispute please e-mail the GM and they will work on trying to get it worked out quickly.
Damage taken:
Damage to Divisions and Air Wings will be handled by the GM. The GM will tell you what amount of losses that the players have taken and then the players must adjust their Order of Battles accordingly.
Ground Example:
Joe is attacking Sam with Two Infantry Divisions and a Heavy Artillery Battalion in support. Sam has just an Infantry Division but is in a forest position. In Joe's description he states that the Artillery of both Divisions and the Heavy Artillery Battalion are firing on the enemy defenses while a Regimental size force probes the lines. Sam has stated that his Division is in a defend in depth organization and spread out, but will open fire when attacked. The GM then takes in all the actions and posts what losses and advances (If any) happen.
"Division 1's probe is able to reach the Defender's line without much lose (2 Percent from Enemy Artillery Fire), and is able to push forward somewhat, though is halted by a barrier of layer defense (2 Percent losses from Defender's fire). The Defender's Division 1 suffers light losses from Artillery Fire (1.5 percent because of dug-in position and forest) and then light losses from the probe (2 Percent as enemy hitting on a small front). Total Losses: Attacker 4 Percent, Defender: 3.5 Percent."
Above is what the GM would put as his post to the action. After this the next round begins. As you can see Joe is pressing forward with light losses though he has meet determined defenses as he presses on. Sam is holding the probe though is taking some losses from Artillery fire. It is now Joe's turn to post his next move, after which Sam will post what he is doing.
Air Example:
Here we have Sam attacking with 36 BF-109Fs Fighters, while Joe is defending with 24 Spitfire IBs. The GM then sets up the situation.
"Conditions: Sunny, light Cloud cover. Attacker from the West, Defender from the East. Defender has advantage of early warning system and is allowed in the air"
Sam then goes ahead and posts his actions for the opening round.
"All 36 BF-109s at 15,000 Feet on look out for Enemy planes, heading East."
Now because the Defender detected the incoming strike (Either from Radar or spotters on the ground) they can be in a position to intercept. Thus Joe posts his actions.
"24 Spitfire IBs flying at 20,000 Feet, diving to intercept enemy planes."
Now it's the GM's turn to post damage/losses if any are sustained.
"Due to the pilot's being alert the Bf-109s do not take as many losses as if they were totally surprised. Though due to the advantage in altitude 4 BF-109s are destroyed in this round, no losses to the Spitfires. Total Losses; Attacker - 4 BF-109s, Defender - Zero Losses."
Combat may take as many rounds is needed and can take place at any time of the day, though fighting at night is less effective due to darkness. Also weather conditions can effect the battlefield, The GM will tell what the weather conditions are at the beginning of the battle and through out it as it is possible for conditions to change. Also please note that each post will represent half a day in combat so please make the necessary arrangements when posting.
If there are any complaints please direct them to Eric Skrevski and I will try and make sure they handled. Naval Rules will be worked on see so please stay tuned.
