1600 Pennsylvania Ave.
Washington D.C.
June, 1940
Former Speaker of the House, Allan D. Ryan smiled as he leaned back in the President's chair for the first time. The Presidency of these last years had been a difficult one. Just recently President Jamison and his Vice President were forced to resign following a bizarre ailment, fortuneatley they were resting well and recovering. However, that left the Fourty Year Old Speaker of the House into the chair of the Presidency, not something he was exactly ready for.
Allan had admired President Jamison alot, he had seen differently from him when it came to foriegn policy, with himself being an isolationist. However, with the United States at War with Turkey and in an Alliance with Germany and Norway, the young President had his work cut out for him.
He straightened up and smiled as his Vice President walked in the room. Allan was rather fond of the man, he was a former Aviation Engineer that pursued a life in economics, he had some interesting if not even radical ideas, nevertheless he was an economic genius and just the man to finish off the Depression America has been going through.
"Mr Emmerich, Glad to see you so soon, I take it the trip from New York wasn't bad?" Allan took a sip from the coffee he had resting on his otherwise empty desk.
"It was fast, they loaded me onto a C-47 and flew me straight to Andrews AAF. I still can't belive you chose me for the job." He laughed and sat down infront of Allan's desk.
"Well with all of this stuff we've been going through, I didn't have any choice, I need your help with this Economic hell hole we're going through. I've read your papers and they're all sound as near as I can tell. Not to mention you're a man of integrity, not even Hoover has any file on you." He grinned at he last part, Hoover had a file on everyone, himself included.
"Thank you Mister President, I'll do my best sir."
"Of course, now I'm afraid you'll have to excuse me, I have to meet my wife and daughters at Andrews of all places." Allan stood up and walked with his new Vice President, on either side he was flanked by Secret Service Agents.
"Send Elizabeth my regards."
"Of course Harry, make yourself at home by the way, I'm sure you'll manage." Allan smiled as he walked away, this was going to be one hell of a four months...
