Finally, the Republic is mine

[stanley]

President Achilles looks out over the bay at Chania, marveling at what is now his.
"Finally, presidency is mine, after all the campaigning, I am the president."
His assistant, Adelphos walks into his room. There is no sign of the President, so he taps on the glass to the balcony.
"Come outside, Adelphos. Bring me good news."
"Sir, the army has taken back control of Athens. Apparently the uprising caused by your voting in has been crushed, and you are free to return to Athens ASAP."
"Adelphos, I quite like it here, what about you? I could stay for another couple of months. What with the rising tension across the world, I like our little Cretian corner of the world."
"Yes, sir, but don't you think you should move back to the seat of power?"
"No, I will not be moving back to Athens. It is too dangerous there. I have fear of a rebellion -"
"But sir -"
"DO NOT interrupt me, swine."
Achilles backhands Adelphos in the mouth.
"As I was saying, if I stay in Athens, the transition of our government to a monarchy will be much less smooth. I request you covertly move all of our government operations to here, leaving Athens as the official capital. Keep the military there. We will need them when we infiltrate the Parliament."
"Yes sire."
Adelphos runs off...

[stanley]

It is 10:00 o'clock in the morning. President Achilles is still laying in bed.
Adelphos runs in, knocking the door down
"Sire, wake up! Open warfare in Athens! Apparently the people of Athens do not want a monarchy. There is no other resistance, however."
"Have the army capture, not kill, the prisoners, Adelphos. I will handle them tomorrow. Now let me sleep."
Adelphos runs out, talking on his radio.
"Capture them all."

[stanley]

Adelphos walks into the conference room, sweat dripping off of his suit.
"Sir, the uprising of earlier today has been crushed, they are captured. The vice president is here in Chania."
"Bring him in."
Adelphos brings in a man tied up and bound with ducktape.
"Adelphos, I have already seen enough. Burn him to death. As well as the rest of the resistance. And when you are done, use their ashes to heat the homes of Greece!"
"Yes sire"
Adelphos walks off.
"DID I DISMISS you, pig?"
"No sire, you didn't"
Adelphos is quivering.
"You may go. But I want to see you when your job is done."

[stanley]

Adelphos walks into the ornate conference room, peering around. Two guards stand by the doors, and King Achilles sits at the end of a large Glass table.
"Adelphos, sit down"
"Yes sire"
"It has come to my attention you are the last remaining person of power from the ex Republic. I cannot have anyone alive left that was in power, for they may spread fear, and rebellion. Rebellion is simply something I cannot have. Do you understand?"
"Yes, sire, but, are you going to kill me? Me? Adelphos? Your long time friend? Your best friend from Governor's school? ME? Please, Achilles, my friend, my pal. You are my best friend, I have been loyal"
"DO NOT REFER TO ME AS ACHILLES, SWINE. Kill him. Off with his head"
"Yes master" Chimes in the guards and they drag him off, never to be seen again.
